Born
and raised in Washington, Darren led a generally normal life. He grew up
with both parents, Taryn North and Steven North, along with his brother,
Tyr. When he was very young, his mother and father gave him and his
brother a choice, to what styles of fighting they would wish to learn.
He went with his mother who learnt to fight on the street and his
brother went with his father, who practiced Tae Kwon Do. He grew up
continuing to learn to fight, living a typical American life until he
was 21... when he had his first change.
He and his parents were sitting at the dinner table, eating and talking
as they usually did. His brother Tyr had gone out for the night. Right
in the middle of this idyllic scene, a black blur moved quickly across
the room and removed his parent's heads. He jumped out of his seat to
see a grinning, drooling Crinos Black Spiral Dancer towering over his
parent's dead bodies. Immediately he shot into lupus and ran; he ran for
a long time, not even considering that he had turned into a wolf, on the
edge of a frenzy. Eventually he ran across a cabin out in the middle of
the woods, to a ranger's station. He fell back into homid and slammed
through the door, screaming gibberish to the ranger on duty about a
black monster and that his parents were dead. The man he had found was
Palanthis, an Elder Fianna Ragabash. Palanthis got him some clothing and
calmed him down, talking him through his ordeal, and giving him a basic
run-down of what Darren had become. Then, the Spiral caught up with
them, but it did not survive long when Palanthis attacked it with his
Grand Klaive. From there on out, he has been living with the local sept,
learning more about his tribe and their ways of life, trying to get his
vengeance on the Black Spiral Dancers for his parent's deaths and the
Tzimisce for the subsequent death of Palanthis some years later.
